Nutrien celebrates cattle, clients, colleagues, and communities at Beef 2024

More than 100,000 people convened in Rockhampton in Central Queensland for a week-long showcase of the Australian beef industry.

Returning as a Principal Partner for Beef2024, Nutrien Ag Solutions painted the local showgrounds and sale yards green in a great show of support for the industry.

All the action kicked off with the Nutrien Ag Solutions Commercial Cattle Championship and Sale.

1,685 head of cattle under 39 vendors entered the Nutrien Ag Solutions Commercial Cattle Competition this year. The sale then went to gross $3.994 million surpassing the 2021 Commercial Cattle Sale results of $3.6 million. The results of the competition, sale and strength of the industry were then celebrated at the Nutrien Ag Solutions Commercial Cattle Gala Awards Dinner.

Long-time competitors Cliff and Sasha Mylrea of Needmore Cattle Co, Gogango were the winners of the Nutrien Ag Solutions Commercial Cattle Championship, awarded the Grand Campion Pen with 10 of their Droughtmaster steers.

The ultimate honours in the Nutrien Ag Solutions Interbreed Stud Stock Championship was shared by Limousin, Santa Gertrudis and Angus entries.

In what Beef Central described as “a magnificent spectacle for the large crowd”, almost 30 tropical, European, British and Sanga breeds and their derivatives lined up to contest the competition in Rockhampton. It was a wet afternoon, so onlookers sheltered under Nutrien umbrellas at centre ring.

The Nutrien trade site was a hub of activity all week and the talk of all show goers and exhibitors alike. Our brand was represented with great professionalism and pride by the whole team and the site was an impressive backdrop for meaningful conversations, connections and deals. We also had great brand coverage across media and social media in the lead up and during one of the most instagram-a-bull events in the livestock calendar.

We were also joined by our friends at CareFlight who hosted emergency trauma training workshops for rural families during the week, and our Sustainability team presented at the Tech Stage

On Friday the Nutrien green uniform was replaced with blue shirts in support of Do It For Dolly Day. We were fortunate to host Dolly’s parents Kate and Tick Everett on our site in the afternoon where we were able to reveal that the Nutrien team right across the country had already raised around $70,000 to support Dolly’s Dream and promote a kinder world. And the funds that were raised are still being tallied, so watch this space! The Everett’s shared their heartfelt gratitude to everyone across the Nutrien network for their continued support of their campaign to raise awareness and end bullying. For more information or to donate, click here.

The success of Beef2024 would not have been possible without the support of our incredible suppliers and our loyal clients - thank you for your continued partnership and trust.

Finally, we take our hats off to all the incredible producers, agents, exhibitors, animal health specialists and those right across the industry for their relentless dedication and passion for the Australian herd.
